Oh my goodness, I just stumbled upon some absolutely delicious looking dishes from Kepong Baru, and I simply had to share them with all of you! The vibrant colors and enticing aromas of these meals are sure to have you drooling in no time.
YummY! - Mee
First up, we have what looks to be an absolutely scrumptious bowl of "Mee Goreng" from a restaurant called Good Food in Kepong Baru.
This dish consists of stir-fried egg noodles served with an assortment of veggies, shrimp, and chicken, all in a deliciously spicy sauce. I can only imagine the incredible blend of flavors and textures that must come together in this dish!
If you're feeling adventurous in the kitchen and want to try making Mee Goreng at home, here's a recipe I found that looks delicious:
Bahan Resep:
- 250g Egg Noodles
- 3 tbsp Kicap Manis (Sweet Soy Sauce)
- 2 tbsp Sambal Oelek (Chili Paste)
- 1 tbsp Oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp Sugar
- 1 tbsp Sesame oil
- 3 cloves Garlic
- 2 Red Chili
- 1 cup Green veggies (bean sprouts, cabbage, etc)
- 1 cup Chicken (cubed)
- 1 cup Shrimp (peeled and deveined)
- Fried shallots, for garnish
Petunjuk:
- In a small bowl, mix together the kicap manis, sambal oelek, oyster sauce, soy sauce, tomato sauce, sugar, and sesame oil until well combined. Set aside.
- In a wok or large frying pan, heat some oil over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and red chilies, and cook until fragrant.
- Add the chicken and cook until browned on all sides. Remove from pan and set aside.
- Add the shrimp to the same pan, and cook until pink and cooked through. Remove from pan and set aside with chicken.
- In the same pan, stir-fry the veggies until slightly wilted. Remove from pan and set aside with the meats.
- In the same pan, add the egg noodles and stir-fry until slightly browned. Pour in the sauce mixture and stir until the noodles are evenly coated.
- Add the meats and veggies back into the pan with the noodles, and stir-fry until everything is heated through and well combined.
- Top with fried shallots and enjoy!
Nasi Lemak Bamboo Azfar Maju Corner
Next up, we have another mouth-watering dish from Kepong Baru - Nasi Lemak from a restaurant called Bamboo Azfar Maju Corner. This traditional Malaysian dish consists of fragrant coconut rice served with an assortment of toppings and sides.
Typical toppings include fried anchovies, peanuts, cucumber slices, hard-boiled eggs, and spicy sambal sauce. I bet the combination of the sweet coconut rice and savory toppings in this dish must be a flavor explosion!

Bahan Resep:
- 2 cups jasmine rice, rinsed and drained
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 4 pandan leaves (optional)
- For the Sambal:
3-4 large red chilies, seeded and chopped
2 small red chilies, seeded and chopped
3 shallots, peeled and chopped
2 cloves garlic, peeled and chopped
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp tamarind paste
1 tsp salt - For the Toppings:
1 cup Fried anchovies
1 cup Roasted peanuts
2-3 Hard-boiled eggs, sliced
1 Cucumber, sliced
8 Slices of beef/lamb/chicken satay, optional
Petunjuk:
- In a pot or rice cooker, combine the rice, water, coconut milk, salt, and pandan leaves (if using). Cook according to instructions for your rice cooker or until the rice is fluffy and cooked through.
- While the rice is cooking, make the sambal. In a blender or food processor, blend together the chilies, shallots, garlic, and a splash of water until a paste forms.
- In a frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chili paste and cook, stirring frequently, until fragrant and slightly browned.
- Add the sugar, tamarind paste, and salt, and stir until well combined.
- Assemble the dish by placing a generous portion of the coconut rice in the center of a plate. Top with the sambal sauce, anchovies, peanuts, sliced egg, and cucumber. If using, add the satay on the side of the plate.
- Enjoy!
